How do you unwind at the end of a stressful day at work? Large glass of wine? Watch some TV? Have a bath?

I wrap gifts. Of course, I have the occasional large glass of wine as well, but wrapping gifts, making bows and generally ‘getting my creative on’ in the Wrap it HQ is my way of unwinding.

I love giving gifts, especially outside of birthdays and Christmas. For me, it’s about building the anticipation of a gift by wrapping it beautifully. The paper, the ribbons, bows, trimmings, scent, all helps to creating a multi-sensory experience for the recipient…

So, let’s take a moment here to honor the magic of a good haberdashery… I can spend hours, nay, DAYS looking at ribbons and trimmings. Choosing ribbons to match or contrast against the paper (I bought earlier), deciding which bow I would use the ribbon for… the list goes on.

The best haberdashery I’ve ever been too? V V Rouleaux in Bath – its heaven! They also have a store in London or check them out online at and have the time. Of. Your. life!

Whether you are self-taught (like me) or you’ve done every wrapping course and work shop under the sun, choosing the right ribbon for the right bow can make or break the look of a wrap. Even something awkward like a watering can (my first job after launching Wrap it) can look beautiful with the right bow. FACT.

Bows are life.

With that in mind – lets slide right on over to colour combinations, top of my picks are silver and teal, red and purple, orange and pink, and of course, the classic black and white.

As Coco Chanel said

‘Women think of all colours except the absence of colour. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony’.

I’m not someone who can easily answer the ‘what is your favourite colour?’ question. For me, again, it is all about something bigger. A larger creation…pairing components to make something truly beautiful. Something that reflects the gift inside and the person receiving it. It’s an experience.

This takes me back to the Wrap it HQ. My very own ‘escape room’. The place I go to immerse myself in the experience of creating beautiful paper-based constructions and coverings for the gift-givers of the world.

So, if you are like me and have a passion for all things pretty and paper-y or you need someone to wrap all presents for you from this day on, follow my blog (a new one each month) and/or get in touch and join the Wrap it community. #wrapitgifts
